2017 Community Enrichment Recipients

In 2017, the Comox Valley Community Foundation was pleased to give away $###,### in grants to ## Comox Valley organizations.

Here are this year's recipients:

Grant Recipient: Abbeyfield House of Comox Valley Society

Grant Amount: $2,180.00

Description: To start Café Connection, an outreach program for seniors, specifically to purchase a coffee/breakfast bar, dining room furniture, countertop and handwashing sink for social/recreation events.

Grant Recipient: Beaufort Association for the Mentally Handicapped

Grant Amount: $2,000.00

Description: To provide Multi-Sensory Stimulation for Day program client use, specifically a Lift Chair with heat and vibration.

Steve Cochrane (CVCF,) Dana Starrit, executive director of the Black Creek Community Association and Andrea Rowe (donor.)

Grant Recipient: Black Creek Community Association

Grant Amount: $1,080.00

Description: To help start the Living Well Seniors program providing a subsidized lunch and social programming for rural seniors.

Grant Recipient: Canadian Red Cross, Courtenay HELP Office

Grant Amount: $3,000.00

Description: To purchase replacement parts for HELP Medical Equipment in need of repair

 

Grant Recipient: Comox Valley Child Development Association

Grant Amount: $1,200.00

Description: To purchase 20 toddler size chairs and a table for pre-school programs.

 

Grant Recipient: Comox Valley Children’s Daycare Society

Grant Amount: $3,500.00

Description: To help purchase appliances for the Tigger Too Garden Room expansion for the Infant/Toddler Child Care Program.

 

Grant Recipient: Comox Valley Food Bank Society

Grant Amount: $10,000.00

Description: To purchase a van for home food delivery as part of the Food Bank Home Delivery Program.

 

Grant Recipient: Comox Valley Project Watershed

Grant Amount: $2,550.00

Description: To support the ‘Keeping it Living’ with students in the Comox Valley by providing environmental units for School District 71.

 

Grant Recipient: Comox Valley Special Olympics

Grant Amount: $2,850.00

Description: To support Special Olympics programming by providing pool time and sponsorship for a hockey tournament.

 

Grant Recipient: Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society

Grant Amount: $14,080.00

Description: To support the Rider Enrichment Sponsorship program by defraying costs for delivery of horse based therapy programs.

 

Grant Recipient: Comox Valley White Cane Society

Grant Amount: $1,100.00

Description: To provide Assistive Technology for the Visually Impaired.

 

Grant Recipient: Comox Valley Youth Music Centre

Grant Amount: $4,132.00

Description: To assist with acquiring a portable PA system and Materials for mezzanine construction for summer programs.

 

Grant Recipient: Courtenay Recreational Association

Grant Amount: $20,500.00

Description: To support Special Needs Recreation programs.

 

Grant Recipient: Cumberland & District Historical Society

Grant Amount: $2,500.00

Description: To support Kumugwe, a new permanent First Nations exhibit at the Museum, featuring mask carving and educational programs.
