From providing funds to help restore a playground on Denman Island to assisting in refurbishing an apartment for Y.A.N.A., your Community Foundation has been able to support dozens of very different charitable organizations throughout the Comox Valley.
In many cases the projects that the Foundation receives application for would not be considered major, however they are all very important to help make our community a better place for everyone.
Something as simple as providing a grant to purchase puppets for the BC Schizophrenia Society or a new refrigerator for the Upper Island Women of Native Ancestry goes a long way in helping them to provide much needed support for those who need their services.
The list of organizations that have received grants from the Foundation covers a broad cross section of social needs throughout our community. From the Therapeutic Gardens to Therapeutic Riding, from the Transition Society to Ground Search and Rescue, from seniors to youth to organizations that care for animals, they all add up to making our community a special place to live.
None of these grants would be possible though without the financial support of our neighbors who see the value of creating a legacy fund that will continue to provide an on-going source of revenue.
Helping out comes in many forms. It can be as simple as making a donation to an existing fund or creating a fund of your own that is dedicated to supporting a cause or interest that has special meaning to you.
Currently the Comox Valley Community Foundation holds and administers over 70 individual charitable and pooled funds. Since 1998 the Foundation has disbursed over 1 million dollars in grants to support local charitable organizations.
