Matching Dollars Available for CVCF’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund

The Comox Valley Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Vancouver Foundation will be matching donations to CVCF’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, on a dollar for dollar basis, during the month of May, up to a maximum of $30,000.

The CVCF’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund provides grants to the Comox Valley community where they are needed most, with a focus on access to food, shelter, supplies and care for our community’s most vulnerable. Over $25,000 has been donated to date by individuals and local businesses. In addition, the Comox Valley Regional District contributed $47,000 from its grant-in-aid funds and the Rotary Club of Courtenay contributed $8,000.
“We are very thankful for the community support we have received to date, which has allowed us to respond quickly to the needs of the not-for-profit organizations providing service to our vulnerable neighbours during this challenging time,” said Matt Beckett, President of the Comox Valley Community Foundation.

“We are also incredibly appreciative of the support extended by Vancouver Foundation, and hope this inspires those community members who are able to further support our efforts to ensure that no one goes without during this public health crisis,” added Beckett.
The first round of grants, totaling $102,000, were distributed in mid-April, supporting the efforts of 13 organizations including the Comox Valley Child Development Association’s Emergency Autism program, Cumberland Community School’s Food Share program, LUSH Valley’s “Good Food Box” delivery program, and the Coalition to End Homelessness’s housing and wrap-around supports program for the unsheltered.
