To the great loss of his family, the Province and this community, Stan Hagen passed away in January of 2009. Stan was the founding president of the Comox Valley Community Foundation and in his memory, the Hagen family and the Foundation have established “The Honourable Stanley B. Hagen Fund”. Proceeds from this fund will be used in the mission Stan articulated for this organization: “to enrich the quality of life in the Comox Valley”.
In the mid 1990’s Stan Hagen began a dialogue with the Vancouver Foundation about the establishment of a charitable fund for the Comox Valley that in 1996 lead to the inception of The Comox Valley Community Foundation. Stan’s enthusiasm, dedication and vision for the Comox Valley set the tone for the Foundation that remains to this day.
Thirteen years later The Foundation’s assets have grown to over 2 million dollars and it has become the premier granting organization in the Comox Valley.
