Courtenay Rotary Presents $170,000 To Foundation

On Saturday October 23rd, at the annual gala of the Comox Valley Community Foundation, Neil Woodrow representing the Rotary Club Courtenay Foundation, presented Lorne Harder, President of the Community Foundation, with a cheque for $170,000.

The Courtenay Rotary Foundation felt that the Comox Valley Community Foundation’s mandate is so similar to our mandate that they have asked us to accept their fund and to manage it in perpetuity and to distribute the proceeds of their fund in our regular granting cycle. The earnings of the fund will be directed toward the relief of poverty, advancement of education or to other purposes of a charitable nature. This fund, and many more show that the people of the Comox Valley have faith in the Foundation to help them create lasting legacies.  We are so pleased to have such an incredible endorsement from an organization which is so well respected and has done so much for our community” stated Community Foundation president Harder.

The mission of the Comox Valley Community Foundation is to enrich the quality of life in the Comox Valley by distributing earnings from permanent growing endowment funds.  Each gift made to the foundation will continue to benefit residents of the Comox Valley in perpetuity.

“Today our investments are performing very well and have grown to over $2,500,000.00 which is administered by us and the Vancouver foundation” says Harder.
